Practical, creative, experienced in the mediation, management and litigation of complex issues and aggressive when it makes a difference, David brings more than 40 years’ experience to every mediation. That experience includes trial and litigation of cases involving property damage, personal injury, medical malpractice, the Safe Drinking Water Act, business, commercial and contract disputes, the validity of wilderness mining claims, state professional licensing and hospital privileging. It also includes the litigation of employment, state procurement, insurance coverage, disability,, environmental and other matters.

David’s approach to mediation is to learn the case, challenge assumptions and conventional thinking, to ask the difficult questions and to offer analysis where it is needed.

David is a member of the National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals, the Idaho Mediation Association and the Idaho State Bar and former member of American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and the International Society of Barristers. David has been listed in Best Lawyers since 2001, Mountain States Superlawyers since 2007 and was placed in Band 1 for General Commercial Litigation by Chambers & Partners until he retired from active litigation to focus on alternative dispute resolution.

David graduated from Stanford University in 1971 and obtained his law degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Santa Clara School of Law in 1976. David practices law with Givens Pursley, LLP where he has been a partner since 1990.
